This authentic cottage at the dike is our second home. It’s work in progress…. But cute and a great place to stay if you are looking for peace and rural surroundings.

The living room, the kitchen, the bedroom, the bathroom and a small office space are done and decorated.
The garden room is functional, but not finished, the inside walls still need to be finished, as visible in the pictures.

All the rooms have fantastic views to the green fields and the horizon.

The private back yard is a green oasis, visited by birds, bees and butterflies. With a fantastic view, a barbecue and fireplace and acces to a swimming spot and fishing spots in the canal.

The path along the canal that starts right behind the house, takes you to the Wadden Sea in a 25 minutes walk. Truly beautiful nature and UNESCO heritage. At the Sea, you will find the restaurant De Zwarte Haan, Nice for coffee or high quality local dining.

Reachable from the back yard in a few steps is a great spot for outdoor swimming in the canal.

The beautiful rural surroundings offer multiple options for biking and hiking. Maybe try the “Jabikspaad”, one of the routes leading to Santiago de Compostela, and starting right at our doorstep?

The village St. Annaparochie is a 45 minutes walk away, and has all the shops and amenities that you will need.

In the village of Oudebildtzijl, you will find the restaurant-cafe Het graauwe Paard – great vibes!

There’s very limited public transport, so it’s easiest to come by car.

We don’t have WiFi or television. Enjoy the peaceful evenings!

Heatings costs can be really high, depending on how much the heating is used. Therefore, we ask guests not to use the heating in summer, but bring a sweater instead! In the cold season we ask for a contribution of € 60 per week in advance for energy costs. Naturally, we will refund the amount if less is consumed. Although this may seem inhospitable, we hope for your understanding of this method to prevent high costs and unpleasant situations.

Note: our cat sometimes stays here too. If you’re extremely allergic, this might be problematic.

The stairs are narrow and steep and can be challenging to those less agile.

We think that our home is best suitable for single travellers or couples.
